Homestay for Small Functions in Tirupati

For the ceremonies that are too small for a hall and too big for a hotel room — seemantham, namakaranam, annaprasana, upanayanam, a simple puja — in a private house with its own kitchen.

The size of function a hall handles badly

Twenty-five people is an awkward number. A function hall makes it look empty and charges you for a hundred. A hotel banquet room makes it feel like a conference. A relative's flat means somebody's kitchen is destroyed for two days.

A homestay is the right size. You take a complete villa — hall, dining room, kitchen, bedrooms, garden — and the function happens the way it would at home, except that nobody has to clean up afterwards and the guests who travelled have proper rooms to sleep in.

Skandanam Ecoville is an ISO 9001:2015 certified homestay in Bairagipatteda, central Tirupati, which puts the temple visit that usually accompanies these ceremonies within easy reach.

The ceremonies families host here

Each one is arranged directly with the owner beforehand. What they have in common is a small guest list, a ritual that needs clean private space, and food that has to be cooked a particular way.

  • Seemantham

A baby shower for close family, where the mother-to-be needs somewhere to rest between the ritual and the meal.

  • Namakaranam

The naming ceremony — a quiet indoor space, a priest, and a kitchen for the prasadam.

  • Annaprasana

First rice, which is mostly about the food and about somewhere calm for an infant.

  • Upanayanam

A thread ceremony, with the family staying several days around the date.

  • Satyanarayana puja and house pujas

A homam or puja for the family, held in the hall with the garden for the guests.

  • Post-darshan family functions

The small gathering that follows a Tirumala visit — a meal together before everyone travels on.

Why the kitchen decides these bookings

For ritual functions the food is not a detail — it is half the event. Prasadam has to be made a certain way, elders may be observing a fast, and onion and garlic are often out for the day. No caterer solves that as well as a kitchen you control.

The property's kitchen comes with a gas stove, pressure cooker, kettle, pans, a refrigerator, a water filter, a microwave, a dining table and enough plates, glasses, spoons and serving bowls to feed the house. Families bring their own cook, or cook themselves, or have food delivered and served from here.

Supermarkets and vegetable shops are within walking distance, which matters when the puja list changes the morning of the function.

Space for the ritual, and space for the rest of the day

A function is never only the ceremony. There is the hour before, when the family is getting ready and the priest is setting up. There is the meal. There is the long afternoon afterwards, when the elders want to lie down and the children want to be outside.

This property covers all three at once: an air-conditioned hall for the ritual itself, a dining table and kitchen for the meal, bedrooms with attached bathrooms for the family to change and rest in, and a walled garden with a veranda daybed for the afternoon. Guests who have travelled stay the night in the same house.

Rooms and villas

Book the house for the function

A complete villa is the usual choice — it gives you the hall, the kitchen and the bedrooms as one private house. For a very small ritual with only the immediate family, a family suite may be enough.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what guests ask before booking. Anything not covered here is best settled on a call.

Can we hold a seemantham or namakaranam here?

Yes, small family functions are hosted by prior arrangement. Call the owner with your date, the ceremony and your guest count before you book, so the space and the timing are agreed in advance.

How many guests does a small function here suit?

Taken as a whole, the property accommodates 25–30 guests, and that is the honest working number for a house function where most people are staying. If a larger group is only attending for a couple of hours, give the owner your real count on the call rather than assuming the same figure covers it.

Can a priest perform a homam or puja on the property?

Puja arrangements are agreed with the owner beforehand, including anything involving fire. Raise it when you book, not on the day.

Can we cook satvik food without onion and garlic?

Yes — that is exactly what the kitchen is for. Stove, cooker, refrigerator, water filter, microwave and full crockery are included, and shops are within walking distance.

Is there somewhere for elders to rest during the day?

Bedrooms with air conditioning, attached bathrooms and geysers are part of the booking, plus a shaded veranda daybed in the garden.

Can the family stay for a few days around the function?

Yes, and most do. Check-in and check-out run round the clock subject to availability, which suits relatives arriving on overnight trains.

Still unsure whether the property suits your plan? Call +919676707066 and ask — you will get a straight answer rather than a guess.
